Detroit Grandmother Charged in Non-Fatal Shooting of Five-Year-Old Grandson
On February 17, 2022, at approximately 2:28 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 13580 block of Rosemont Street in Detroit for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers observed the child on the kitchen floor with the defendant applying pressure to his chest. Medics arrived on scene and transported the child to a local hospital for treatment.
It is alleged that the eight-year-old picked up an unsecured handgun in the home and shot his brother in his right shoulder.
Itterlee McNeil has been charged with two counts of Second-Degree Child Abuse. *
The warrant was signed, and Ms. McNeil was arraigned on February 28, 2022 in 36th District Court by Magistrate Joseph Boyer. She received a $10,000 personal bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 10, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 17, 2022 at 1:45 p.m. in 36th District Court before Judge Kenneth King.
