Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jovon Boykins, Sr., 35 (DOB: 8/30/80), of Detroit, with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree and Kidnapping. On July 10, 2016 at approximately 10:50 a.m., an 18-year-old woman had a fight with her boyfriend and left his car, and began walking in the area of Hubbell and Plymouth streets. Shortly, thereafter, the defendant offered the complainant a ride home and she got into his car. She asked the defendant to drop her off on Greenfield and Plymouth, but he took her to a vacant house in the 10600 block of Foley in Detroit. It is alleged that the defendant held the complainant against her will and sexually assaulted her. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

Boykins was arraigned this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in 36th District Court and received a $250,000 cash/surety bond. The probable cause hearing is on August 4, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. and the preliminary examination is on August 10, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Langston in 36th District Court.
