Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Aurelio Rahim Smith, 41 (DOB: 8/10/1975) and his girlfriend Andrea Alexus Bracy, 21 (DOB: 6/28/1995), both of Inkster, in connection with the death of Defendant Smith’s infant son, Tyme Smith, who turned three years old on January 13, 2013. On October 13, 2016 at approximately 2:00 a.m., in an apartment located in the 1550 block of Inkster Road, it is alleged that the defendants assaulted the infant. It is further alleged that several hours later, both defendants took the child to a local hospital for treatment. On the same day at 10:14 a.m., Inkster police officers were dispatched to the hospital on a report of suspected child abuse and were the defendants taken into custody. The child died on October 13th at approximately 11:10 a.m. On Friday, October 14, 2016 the medical examiner found that the child died from blunt force trauma to his body and ruled the death a homicide. The facts and the evidence in this case will be introduced in court at the preliminary examination.

Smith and Bracy have each been charged with: Felony Murder, Torture and Child Abuse First Degree. Both defendants were arraigned today. The bond for Smith is one million dollars cash, and the bond for Bracy is one million dollars cash/surety. The probable cause conference is on October 19, 2016 at 9 a.m. before Judge Johnson in 22nd District Court.
