Motor City Casino Warrant Request - WCPO has received the warrant request for a father who is alleged to have left his children in the car while he was in the casino. It is currently being reviewed.

Former MSU Basketball Player Keith Appling Charged With New Weapons Violation

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged former Michigan State University basketball player Keith Appling, 24, of Detroit with Fleeing and Eluding Third Degree, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Resisting and Obstructing Police, and Felony Firearm.

On August 28, 2016 at 9:15 p.m. Appling was driving a car in the area of Seven Mile and Russell in Detroit when the police stopped Appling for a traffic violation. When he rolled down his window and was asked by a police officer for his identification it is alleged that Appling gave his identification and drove his car away while the officer still had his hand in the window. The officer and his partner pursued Appling and arrested him at State Fair and Orleans. It is further alleged that Appling threw a bag from the car. The police found the bag in the area of Seven Mile and Russell with Appling's full name on it and handgun inside the bag.

Appling has been arraigned in 36th District Court. The probable cause conference is scheduled for September 6, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. before 36th District Court Judge Deborah Langston. He will be represented by attorney Otis Culpepper.

Van Buren Man Charged in Assault of Girlfriend

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged has charged Frank Stanchulski, 31 (DOB: 12/12/84), of Romulus, in connection with the assault of his 30-year-old girlfriend. On August 28, 2016 at 8:45 p.m. the Van Buren Township Police and Fire received a 911 call from a woman and were dispatched to a car fire near a location in the 10700 block of Belleville Road. It is alleged that Stanchulski poured gasoline on his girlfriend and used a lighter to ignite her, but was unsuccessful. He then poured gasoline in her car and set it on fire and fled from the area.

The defendant has been charged with Arson Fourth Degree, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Felonious Assault and Domestic Violence. The defendant was arraigned and received a 100,000/10% bond. His PCC is on September 7, 2016 and his PE is on September 14, 2016, both at 9:00 a.m.

Father Charged With Leaving His Two Young Children in His Car While at Motor City Casino

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Montez D'Angelo Sistrunk, 25 (DOB: 3/6/91), of Ypsilanti with two counts each of Child Abuse Second Degree. On August 29, 2016 at approximately 10:30 a.m. it is alleged that Sistrunk left his two young children alone in his car located in the parking lot of the Motor City Casino in the 2900 block of Grand River for an hour. An employee of the casino observed the children and alerted a security guard who removed the children from the car.

The defendant was arraigned yesterday in 36th District Court and he received a $75,000/10% bond. His probable cause conference is on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. and his preliminary examination is on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Shannon Holmes in 36th District Court.

Maxwell Brack - The defendant in the Kajavia Globe homicide was convicted of Second Degree Murder today. The sentence date is September 27, 2016 before Judge Cynthia Hathaway.

Charles Cahill, Jr. - The defendant charged in connection with a drunk driving car crash that killed 12-year-old Victoria Mack in Sumpter Township was bound over today and is arraignment on the information in Wayne County Circuit Court is scheduled for September 7, 2016.

Detroit Woman Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Live-In Boyfriend

Ollie Jenell Holmes-Suber, 56 (DOB: 8/30/60), of Detroit, has been charged with Second Degree Murder in the fatal stabbing of her live-in boyfriend, Larry Johnson, 55, that occurred on August 30, 2016 at 9:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of Casmere Street in Detroit. It is alleged that the defendant and Johnson had an argument and the defendant fatally stabbed Johnson with a knife.

Holmes-Suber was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court before Magistrate Bari Blake Wood. The probable cause conference is scheduled for September 9, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary exam is scheduled for September 16, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before 36th District Court Judge Shannon Holmes.
