Detroit Man Charged in Greektown Carjacking

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Davonn Tramonte Townsend, 24, (DOB: 7/22/1992), of Detroit with a Carjacking and Armed Robbery in Greektown. On November 11, 2016 at approximately 10:55 p.m., it is alleged that Townsend robbed and carjacked a Chesterfield Township woman at gunpoint as she was getting items out of the trunk of her car in front of a restaurant in the 730 block of Beaubien.

Townsend has been charged with Carjacking, Armed Robbery Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile and Felony Firearm.* He was arraigned this morning in 36th District Court before Magistrate Laura Echartea. The probable cause conference is scheduled for November 22, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for November 28, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Shannon Holmes in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $250,000 cash/surety bond.

Bridget Caplin - Today Defendant Caplin pled as-charged to the two counts in the Information: Disseminating Sexually Explicit Visual Matter to a Minor; and Use of Computer to Commit Crime. Judge Bill allowed the defendant to tender a No-Contest plea after she voiced concerns for future civil liability. The judge indicated that his Cobb’s evaluation involved a period of probation, along with standard terms and conditions. Judge Gregory Bill will sentence the defendant on January 11, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.

Mother Charged with Kidnapping her Infant Girl in Amber Alert Case

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Marquita J. Dupree, 33 (DOB: 7/31/1983), of Detroit, in connection with an abduction of her infant girl that caused an Amber Alert. Ms. Dupree is not allowed to have unsupervised visits with her infant daughter. On Monday, November 15, 2016 at approximately 2:00 p.m., at a location on Moross in Detroit, it is alleged that the defendant arranged to meet with the infant’s foster mother at a pre-scheduled doctor’s appointment at a local hospital, so that Ms. Dupree could visit her infant daughter. After the foster mother removed the child from a car seat, it is alleged that the defendant grabbed the child, refused to give her back and fled from the location. The foster mother immediately called 911 and an Amber Alert was issued. On Tuesday, November 16, 2016, the defendant and the infant were located in a home in the 9100 block of Everts in Detroit. The infant was found unharmed and the defendant was placed in custody.

Dupree has been charged with one count of Kidnapping - Child Enticement* and she was arraigned this afternoon. The probable cause conference is scheduled for November 30, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for December 7, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $250,000 cash/surety bond.

Wayne County Deputy Sheriff Charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Wayne County Deputy Sheriff Thomas Arthur Pedersen, 48 (DOB: 04/12/1968), of Wayne County in connection with inappropriate sexual activity. It is alleged that between 2010 and November, 2016 the defendant engaged in an ongoing pattern of inappropriate sexual conduct with a relative. The facts and the evidence in the case will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.

Pedersen has been charged with three counts of First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct with a person under 13 years of age and one count of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct.* He is expected to be arraigned on the warrant on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in 33rd District Court before Judge Michael K. McNally in Woodhaven.

Mateen Cleaves Preliminary Examination - WCPO was informed in court this morning that the preliminary examination has been adjourned today. It will resume on December 1 and 2, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.

Thomas Arthur Pedersen - Wayne County Deputy Sheriff charged with inappropriate sexual activity with a relative. The defendant was arraigned today. The probable cause conference is scheduled for November 29, 2016 at 1:30 p.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for December 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Michael K. McNally in 33rd District Court. Pedersen received a $250,000 cash bond.
