Turkey Drive helps meet growing demand for holiday meals
Detroit - Wayne County today delivered hundreds of holiday turkeys during its annual drive. Efforts to help bring Thanksgiving cheer to families countywide are made possible by the county's workforce, many of whom donate time and funds in the weeks before turkeys are delivered. Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano personally delivers gift baskets to families chosen by senior centers and school districts. Some food pantries and other charitable groups report a boost in demand this season. Wayne County has long helped in meeting those needs.
