China Conference draws nearly 200 participants to UM-Dearborn campus
Dearborn -- Doing business in one of the world's emerging marketplaces was the focus of a June 6 workshop.
The Wayne County China Conference, a first-ever event, focused on business and investment in the growing Chinese marketplace. The event featured panel discussions and breakout sessions with global trade and business experts. The Office of the Wayne County Executive and the Department of Jobs and Economic Development co-hosted the China Conference. China Conference was held at the UM-Dearborn campus. Nearly 200 people and 21 speakers participated.
County Executive Robert Ficano is an acknowledged leader in abridging American/Asian growth and development opportunities, having led two successful trade missions to China - and with plans for a third later this year. His trips have resulted in numerous investment and development opportunities between US and Chinese companies. Wayne County also has opened a trade office in China, providing a direct link to those seeking investment and other information.
The half-day China Conference featured sessions on automotive, environmental technology and cargo logistics, legal, general import/export and other global trade activities in the Chinese marketplace. The conference also offered critical trade and investment success stories and cultural tips on building relationships.
Wayne County has also introduced a new website that advances business opportunities and offers historical/cultural information about the US and China. Waynecountygatewaytochina.com is an easily navigable website to assist businesses, schools and corporate leadership.
