Wayne County Exec Welcomes New Public Health Officer
Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano and the county's Department of Public Health have announced the arrival of a new Health Officer, Loretta V. Davis, who served eight years as the director of the Division of Health, Wellness and Disease Control for the Michigan Department of Community Health.
Ms. Davis is a nationally known expert in HIV/AIDS education, treatment and prevention, and has worked closely with the U.S. Department of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Michigan and a Master's of Science in Health Administration from Central Michigan University.
“It’s a great honor to have been selected to serve as Wayne County’s Health Officer," she said. "Citizens need a strong advocate for their growing health concerns, and I intend to put my experience to work in order to make Wayne County one of the healthiest counties in Michigan - and throughout the nation."
Ms. Davis succeeds Anahid Kulwicki in the position following Dr. Kulwicki’s promotion to the role of Deputy Director of the Wayne County Department Health and Human Services.
