Community Corrections

In conjunction with the state department of corrections, Wayne County provides a comprehensive array of residential and treatment programs for adult offenders. This network of service provides an alternative to expensive incarceration, saving millions in taxpayer dollars while still ensuring public safety.

During 2004, Wayne County initiated a three-phase program that provides rehabilitative services to the incarcerated, continues with transitional residential treatment, and concludes with outpatient services.

This program has measurably reduced recidivism. Individuals who have completed all three phases of this Wayne County initiative have an 85% non-arrest rate 12 months after the program's completion.
