Alternative Work Force

The county also provides alternatives to expensive incarceration for those convicted of lesser offenses through the supervision of the Alternative Workforce [AWF]. The Alternative Workforce operation allows individuals to work off their debt to society through assignments that improve the quality of life in our county.

Between October 2004 and March 2005, AWF cleared snow for over 2,600 seniors and disabled county residents. AWF has also been responsible for cleaning debris from main thoroughfares and vacant lots.

The Alternative Workforce does not displace county workers but rather supplements the services that the county provides to its residents.
