Wayne County China Program
Wayne County’s China program is regarded as one of the best in the State of Michigan. We are the only county in the state with a team dedicated to promoting trade and investment with China. Wayne County has developed business partnership agreements with seven Chinese cities: Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanjing, Wuxi, Wuji, Changchun, and Bengbu, and has two offices in China. These partnership agreements help to attract Chinese investors and help them in understanding the regulatory environment for starting a business in the United States. Furthermore, our established relationships with our partners in China help Michigan-based companies enter the Chinese market.
Wayne County's China Program staff can help your business in a variety of ways. We can assist you in identifying incentive programs and business connections, provide site selections, location set up and staff recruiting. The program also provides Chinese business with issuing invitations, market research and networking opportunities. Wayne County's China Program staff has developed expertise in the areas of the automotive industry, logistics, environmental remediation and technology, and tourism.
Wayne County’s China Program provides many tools for regional businesses to reach out to China. Annual China trade missions help local companies find markets, business partners and opportunities; the China program arranges seminars here and overseas to provide a platform for business exchange; China offices offer consulting services, hotel arrangements, local transportation, interpretation services, match making, visa permits for businesses to do business in China, etc. The program has focused in the areas of automotive, environmental, technology and urban planning and design.
CEO Robert Ficano has led a trade mission to China each year since 2005, visiting several cities during each visit. The China Trade Mission has been critical to bringing Chinese investment into Wayne County including the creation of the Detroit International Auto Salon and the opening of an R&D center by Century Automotives, a subsidiary of the Tempo Group. The mission has also helped a number of local businesses open offices, establish JV and reach markets in China.
