2008 Family Programs

SUMMER NATURE/HISTORY DAY CAMP

July is Summer Day Camp time at Nankin Mills!  This popular program offers weekly sessions for different age groups focusing on a variety of nature and history topics each day.  Kids may explore mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, insects, astronomy, geology, Native American and Settlement history, to name a few!   Hands-on games, crafts, hikes and activities make learning fun.  Special visitors will make presentations during the week as well. 

One snack is provided each day.  Campers should bring a sack lunch with drink, bathing suit and towel to cool off on our waterslide at lunchtime.  Our camp is licensed by the state of Michigan.  Children should have COMPLETED the grades listed for the session.  A family potluck picnic is held each Thursday evening for the session.

Walk-in registration begins Tuesday, March 4, 2008, 8:30 am – 4:30 pmMail-in registration will be processed beginning the next day. Your child will not be registered for a session until payment is received. PLEASE NOTE: Due to staffing changes, we are only ableto offer the three days per week this summer.

 

KINDERGARTEN/FIRST GRADE CAMP
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, July 8, 9, 10, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
$105.00 per child

Campers should have completed Kindergarten or First Grade.  Bring sack lunch with drink, swimsuit and towel.

SECOND/THIRD GRADE CAMP
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, July 15, 16, 17, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
$105.00 per child

Campers should have completed 2nd or 3rd Grade.  Bring sack lunch with drink, swimsuit and towel. 

FOURTH – SIXTH GRADE CAMP
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, July 22, 23, 24, 9am – 3 pm
$105.00 per child

Campers should have completed 4th, 5th, or 6th grade.  Bring sack lunch with drink, swimsuit and towel.

SEVENTH/EIGHTH GRADE CAMP
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, July 29, 30, 31, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
$105.00 per child
Campers should have completed 7th or 8th grade. Bring sack lunch with drink, swimsuit and towel.

Family Public Programs at Nankin Mills Interpretive Center are designed for individuals or parents and children to attend together. Please note the age recommendations listed for each program. Advance registration and payment are required. You will not be registered for a program until payment is received. Payments may be mailed in or brought into the Wayne County Parks office at the address below. Only checks and cash are accepted. No refunds will be given unless Wayne County Parks cancels the program. Please call 734-261-1990 for more information.
