City of Gibraltar

The City of Gibraltar, located at the mouth of the Detroit River and Lake Erie, is composed of four islands and a mainland portion.

The islands and the adjacent shore of the mainland, are all separated by waterways and connected by bridges and are developed principally in residential use.

Jefferson Avenue, a north-south thoroughfare, divides the city and its development with the aforementioned residential to the east, and industrial to the west.

Part of the D.S.C. Company* is located in this latter area. Small, local serving commercial activity is located within the residential community providing Gibraltar residents with many retail conveniences.

Fort Road [M-85], demarks the city's western border and provides good access to major road transportation. Conrail and Grand Trunk & Western rail lines parallel Fort Road within the city.
