Grosse
Pointe Park is one of five separate governmental units comprising
the Grosse Pointes. It is bordered by Lake St. Clair in northeast
Wayne County.
The Park is a quiet community comprised
mainly of residential dwellings and contains a number of area retail
establishments, as well as community clubs and organizations.
Grosse Pointe Park operates two parks
for its residents. Windmill Pointe Park is a ten acre facility
that has an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis courts, a playground,
concession stand, and a marina with 270 boat wells.
Patterson Park has 22 acres and contains
a wading pool, tennis courts and a one-mile exercise course. The
playground has a playscape funded and constructed by Park residents.
Twenty-four hour health care is provided
to the community by three major medical centers in the area including
Bon Secours Hospital, Cottage Hospital and St. John Hospital.
Residents of Grosse Pointe Park elect
six city council members and a mayor to conduct the business of
the city. Council members serve four-year terms and the mayor,
a two-year term.
