About Wayne County

Grosse Pointe City

Grosse Pointe is synonymous with wealth and affluence. Actually, there are five separate political units which comprise the Grosse Pointes, each possessing an inherent beauty of its own.

Lying along the shore of beautiful Lake St. Clair in Northeast Wayne County they are, Grosse Pointe Park, the City of Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe Shores, and Grosse Pointe Woods.

Once renown for the many estates and mansions of the prominent families of the industrial pioneers of Detroit and Wayne County, many of the large estates have given way to housing development on a more modest scale while still maintaining the luxuriousness of a fine residential area with all of the accoutrements of fine living such as select shops, good schools, community centers, libraries, hospitals and churches.

There are no manufacturing industries here. The local street system ties into state and federal roads to provide access to the region.
