Huron
Township is located in the southwest part of the county. Named
after the scenic Huron River which flows diagonally through it
and the Indian tribe which once inhabited the area, the township
today is still largely in agricultural use. Sod production, nursery
and greenhouse stock are the principal outputs.
Large lot residential development with the character of "country living" has
been growing. Three small residential settlements, Willow, Waltz and New Boston
are the principal local commercial centers.
The Huron Clinton Metropolitan Authority owns and operates three
quality recreation facilities on about 3,500 acres in the township.
Interstate 275 Freeway crosses the township north and south providing
good access to the region.
Industrial development is concentrated around the Sibley Road and
South Huron Drive interchanges of I-275.
