The
Charter Township of Northville is located in the northwest corner
of Wayne County and is distinguished by rolling topography, characteristic
of its glacial moraine origin. Northville Township has preserved
and protected many of the natural features including its woodlands
that make the Township desirable.
Northville Township celebrated its centennial in 1998.
Over one half of the Township is yet to be developed. Additionally,
Maybury State Park is located in the Townships northwest quadrant,
and Wayne County Parks comprise several hundred additional acres
of recreational land. The Township has a pathways plan to connect
the entire Township for safety and recreation. The Edward Hines Parkway,
a county-run park, has about four acres located in the township,
including picnic areas and recreational areas for playing disk golf.
Wayne County has entered in an agreement for a Planned Unit Development to
include a premier mixed-use residential development around an Arnold Palmer-designed
championship golf course. The development also includes a R&D area and
a small neighborhood commercial center at Sheldon and Five Mile Roads. A state-of-the-art
stormwater management system is also part of the development.
