Permits

Wayne County is actively involved in protecting the air, land and water resources, as well as the health, safety and well-being of the county's citizens by requiring permits.

Select Permit:
Generally, permits are required in the following areas:
Earth disturbances [affecting soil within 500 ft. of waterways or an area larger than one acre].
Construction within a County drain easement.
Construction, operation, maintenance or removal of any facility within the right-of-way of an existing or proposed county road.
Utility connections, connecting to or altering County sanitary sewer opportunance.
Platting subdivisions.

Wayne County can help your business identify available buildings or land to build a new facility. We can generate a land or building report tailored to your needs. The Wayne County Business Development division has a computerized list of vacant buildings suitable for manufacturing or warehouse use. Our database also includes industrial parks and subdivisions where you can build according to your needs.

The County offers various maps and other resources for sale to the public, including:
Aerial Photography: we have aerial photographs covering all of Wayne County taken in 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990 and 1995. Prints are available at a scale of 1" = 44' in two sizes 24" x 18" and 42" x 50" at a cost of $10.00 per print.
County Base Maps: Base maps with street index showing all existing streets in the entire county are available. Size 48" x 40".
Census Tract Maps: Maps showing census tracts within Wayne County are available in two sizes.
Community Profiles: Statistical profiles of communities in Wayne county are available. The profiles include information such as population, education and income statistics, labor, tax and transportation.
