ROBERT A. FICANO, Wayne County Executive, understands that modern computer and communication technology are important elements in the ability to be informed, pursue educational opportunities and conduct business. Therefore, Wayne County and Executive Ficano have established a partnership with the State of Michigan, Dell, Microsoft, and Comcast Corporations. This partnership will work toward the effort of reducing the gap between those who have access to computers with Internet and those who do not.

This effort is called "Connecting the Partners." This program is an initiative that offers computer and Internet access to thousands of residents throughout Wayne County. Wayne County is on its way to being one of the top counties in the country with computer and Internet trained citizens. This effort is made possible in low-income areas with the support and commitment of local faith-based organizations and community centers.

Executive Ficano's vision is to have technology within the reach of those communities that would otherwise not have access. Bringing technology to the community is a major step in the right direction.
