HAMTRAMCK -- The Wayne County Healthy Communities health centers have achieved full accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) for meeting or exceeding nationally recognized health care standards. This accreditation distinguishes the County's two clinics from other outpatient facilities by assuring the highest quality of care to patients as determined by AAAHC's independent, external evaluation.

"We strive to deliver the best possible care to the people of Wayne County and take pride in earning this accreditation," said County Executive Warren C. Evans. "Having an independent, organization that's highly regarded in the industry closely examine our facilities and procedures validates what we we're doing every day. Our staff deserves a lot of credit."

Ambulatory health care organizations seeking accreditation by AAAHC undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors - dentists, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. The survey is consultative and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.

"It's our responsibility to continuously strive to improve the quality of care we provide," said Brian Manning, Director of Wayne County Health, Veterans and Community Wellness.

"Going through the accreditation process challenged us to find better ways to serve our patients, which ultimately will help lead to a healthier Wayne County."

The AAAHC, founded in 1979, is the leader in ambulatory health care accreditation. Status as an accredited organization means that Wayne County Healthy Communities have met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by AAAHC.
