The Facilities Management Division (F.M.D.) is organized into
three operating sections, F.M.D. Business Office, Sewer and Drain Operations,
and the Downriver Wastewater Treatment Facility.
The Business Office is responsible for the financial management and reporting of
over $90 million in revenues received annually from our wastewater customers.
The Business Office is also responsible for the administrative functions of the
County drain system, along with customer service, quality and productivity
initiatives across the Division. The most aggressive program currently underway
is the implementation of the Comprehensive Assessment and Master Plan Project,
commonly referred to as C.A.M.P.P.
The Field Services Section is managed by Andrew Keller, Field Operations Manager.
The Downriver Wastewater Treatment Facility is managed by Superintendent Firooz
Fath-Azam, P.E.
Drains: The Facilities Management Division is responsible for
the maintenance and operation of over 500 established drainage districts
extending over 1,500 miles, and all ancillary facilities to the drains. There
are over 160 miles of sewers and appurtenances such as manholes, combined sewer
regulators and backwater gates. There are 20 pumping stations and CSO basins
that facilitate the transportation of stormwater runoff and/or combined sewer
overflows.
Wastewater Treatment Facilities: The division
operates the Wyandotte Wastewater Treatment Facility, capable of treating over
225 million gallons of raw sewage per day serving a combined population of
approximately 415,200.
Industrial Pretreatment Program: The Industrial Pretreatment
Program monitors the processes and discharges of sanitary wastes from
industries in the Downriver System. Its duties include issuing permits,
inspections, sampling and lab work, monitoring and enforcement.
