Middle 1 Subwatershed
Home Page

The Middle One Subwatershed is located in the northwestern part of the Rouge River Watershed in Southeastern Michigan.  All of the rainwater that falls on this land area flows over the land, into storm sewers, or through groundwater down to the Middle Branch of the Rouge River that flows in a southeasterly path.  The water of several headwater creeks, tributaries, and county drains flow into the Middle Rouge River contributing to the volume and velocity of the water and certain pollutants that the water has picked up along its path.

When the water reaches Newburgh Lake, it has left the Middle One Subwatershed.  The Middle Rouge River then travels through the downstream Middle 3 Subwatershed, joins the main branch of the Rouge River and then flows toward the Detroit River and finally into Lake Erie.   The River that flows through the Middle One Watershed is a precious resource to be protected, preserved, and in some cases, restored.
