Getting Involved

Are you wondering how you can help improve the water quality of the Rouge River? There are two very effective ways to accomplish this. First, it is important to increase awareness. Become more informed about water quality issues and voice your concerns. The best way to do this is to join with others already involved in these efforts. Secondly, increase your activity. Get involved in local efforts that improve your environment. Remember, individual and collective efforts will help protect the quality of this valuable natural resource. Get involved!

Friends of the Rouge is a group working to restore the Rouge River. They are involved in many activities including water quality monitoring and education. Learn about some of these activities and how you can join an organization.

Get involved by volunteering! There are a number of volunteer opportunities dedicated to Rouge River cleanup and protection. Young and old alike will enjoy monitoring wildlife, river watching and stream monitoring. Your participation can make a difference! On an individual level, learning to change some of our behaviors can help to protect the water quality of the Rouge River and our water resources. Individual actions and those efforts in your community have important impacts on our water resources. Rouge River fact sheets, reports and articles are good sources of information.

The River Friendly Partners Program provides education and assistance to businesses and communities working to protect the Rouge River and prevent pollution.
