WWTP Annual Open House/Tours

The Open House at the Downriver Wastewater Treatment Facility in Wyandotte, is an environmental education event designed for school children in grades 5th through 12th, general public and municipal officials. The focus of the Open House is on the importance of clean water and the critical role that Wastewater Treatment plays in protecting this precious natural resource. The open house is usually held during the second week of May. Invitations are sent to schools located in municipalities in the Downriver Collections System. Classes must be registered to attend the Open House. In the last three years 18, 000 students, teachers and general public have participated in these tours.

Come, see what we do. The staff of Wayne County Department of Environment, Facilities Management Division invites you to come and experience the magic, technology and science of wastewater treatment. Tours are free!!!! A separate time interval is designated for the general public, municipal officials and members of the Downriver Joint Management Committee. Group sessions include refreshments,
