On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Antonio Banks, 30 (DOB: 07/26/1986), of Detroit, in connection with a fatal car crash that killed a father and his 10- year-old daughter. On May 14, 2017 at approximately 11:45 p.m., it is alleged that Banks was driving his car at a high rate of speed, while intoxicated, at Linwood and Glendale in Detroit. He had a male in the front passenger seat. Banks is further alleged to have crashed his car into the car of George Noble, 53, of Detroit, with his ten-year-old daughters in the rear passenger seat and female in the front passenger seat. They were stopped at the traffic signal at Linwood and Glendale. Banks’s car then struck another car, driven by a male, with a female in the front passenger seat, travelling southbound on Linwood. The impact caused him to roll his car over. All of the parties were conveyed to a local hospital for treatment. Mr. Noble and his ten-year-old daughter died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Banks is charged with two counts each of the following charges: Second Degree Murder, Operating while Intoxicated Causing Death, Operating while Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury, Reckless Driving Causing Impairment of Body Function.* Due to the serious injuries sustained by the defendant he could not be arraigned on the day the charges were issued. Banks was arraigned in the in the hospital and remains there under police custody. His probable cause conference will be held on May 30, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. and his preliminary examination will be held on June 6, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.
