Detroit Man Charged In Home Invasion Of Retired DPD Officer
Jalen Kristopher Whitlock (DOB: 3/27/1993) has been charged with Attempted Home Invasion - First Degree and Felony Firearm. It is alleged that on March 1, 2016 at 1:20 p.m., he and another man attempted to enter a home in the 5400 block of West Outer Drive. The owner of the home, a 76-year-old retired DPD officer, who was fearing for his safety, fired several shots with his handgun, striking Whitlock. The homeowner recovered a weapon on the defendant's person. Whitlock fled the scene on foot but was apprehended at a local hospital.
Whitlock was arraigned in the hospital today. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 14, 2016 @ 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 21, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $10,000/10% bond.
