We have just received a homicide warrant request in connection with the cab driver fatally wounded on the 9000 block of Conner. It is currently being reviewed, when a decision we will send out a press release. 

Arthur Blackwell - The defense has requested that the sentence hearing on the charge of Safe Keeping of Public Money by adjourned from Tuesday, April 16, 2013 until Wednesday, April 17, 2013 before Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway.

Prosecutor Worthy to Make Announcement in the Jane Bashara Homicide Case

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy will hold a press conference on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. to make an announcement in the Jane Bashara homicide case. The press conference will be held in the 12th Floor Offices of the Wayne County Prosecutor located at 1441 St. Antoine in Detroit.

This conference is open only members of the press. We request that reporters be prepared to show a press credential upon entry.

Arthur Blackwell - Today Blackwell was sentenced to two years probation and restitution of $264,000 on the charge of Safe Keeping of Public Money before Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway.

Detroit Man Charged in Murder of Taxi Driver

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Jerrel Files, 21 (DOB 3/4/92), of Detroit, in connection with the homicide of Checker Cab driver Michael N. Uche, 42 of Detroit. On April 13, 2013, at approximately 6:30 a.m. in front of a home in the 20500 block of Goulburn, it is alleged that Files fatally shot Uche. The defendant fled from the scene on foot. Witnesses at the scene called 911 and, when medics arrived, Uche was found on the street near his taxi with a gunshot wound to the head. Uche was pronounced dead at the scene. After an investigation was conducted by the Detroit Police Department, the defendant was arrested on April 14, 2013.

Files has been charged with First Degree Murder, Felony Murder, Assault with Intent to Rob Armed, Felon in Possession and Felony Firearm.

Files was arraigned at 1:00 p.m. today in 36th District Court and his preliminary examination will be held on April 25, 2013. He was remanded to the jail.

Detroit Man Charged in Fatal Car Crash

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Anthony William Clark, 30 (4/4/83), of Detroit, with Operating Under the Influence Causing Death, Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident - Death Resulting. Both charges carry a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

On April 15, 2013, at approximately 8:05 p.m. at Gratiot near Sanford Street in Detroit, it is alleged that Clark was driving his vehicle while intoxicated when he fatally struck Deshawn L. Jamerson, 41, of Detroit. Witnesses at the scene of the crash alerted the police. Jamerson was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of Clark.

Clark was arraigned today at 1:00 p.m. in 36th District Court and he received a $100,000 personal bond. His preliminary examination date is on April 30, 2013. Clark is represented by attorney Marlon Evans.
