Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Myron T. Williams, 42 (DOB 8/7/70), in connection with the May 15, 2013 homicide of Sebrina Gianino, 35, that occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. in the 1300 block of Wayburn in Grosse Pointe Park. Williams lived next door to the victim in Grosse Pointe Park. Williams has been charged with First Degree Murder, Felony Murder, and Unarmed Robbery.

Williams was arraigned and remanded to jail today before Judge Russell Ethridge in Grosse Pointe Park Municipal Court. His preliminary examination will be held on July 29, 2013 at 9:00 a.m.

Joseph Gentz - On Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., there will be a Post-Conviction Motion that will be heard before Judge Vonda Evans. Further information about the motion will be placed on the record tomorrow in court.

Joseph Gentz - Convicted in the homicide of Jane Bashara. Gentz sent a letter to Judge Vonda Evans requesting to set aside his guilty plea. Today he came before the court and withdrew his request. The court sealed the contents of the letter.

Mathew Czarnecki, Bryan Milano, Allan Oliver and Jeffrey Hill - Four Wayne County Sheriff Deputies were tried and convicted of Misconduct in Office, False Report of a Felony and Conspiracy to Commit Misconduct in Office. Matthew Czarnecki and Allan Oliver were also found guilty of Aggravated Assault. The defendants were all found not guilty of Assault with Intent to Commit Great Bodily Harm. The defendants were accused of physically assaulting inmates during incidents in 2009 and 2010 that occurred in Division 1 of the Wayne County Jail and then making false reports to cover up their own wrongdoing. Today Judge Craig Strong set the sentencing hearing for September 13, 2013, and continued the four defendants on bond.

Detroit Man Charged in Greektown Homicide

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Karl Frazier Smith, 23 (DOB 12/21/89), of Detroit in connection with the June 30, 2013 homicide of James Rankin, 23, of Detroit, that occurred at 2:52 a.m. in front of a location in the 570 block of Monroe in Greektown. It is alleged that Smith had a verbal altercation with Rankin and some friend that were with him and, after a brief exchange of words, Smith shot Rankin. Rankin later died from a gunshot wound to the torso at a local hospital. Another male victim was observed with injuries by police in the middle of the street in the 580 block of Monroe. He was taken to a local hospital and was treated and released.

Smith has been charged with First Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm and Felony Firearm. He is expected to be arraigned today in 36th District Court at 1:30 p.m.

Man Charged with 2004 Rape

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Darneau Antonio Grant, 39 (DOB 6/10/73), of Detroit, with Criminal Sexual Conduct - First Degree and Criminal Sexual Conduct - Third Degree in connection with a sexual assault of a 34-year-old Detroit woman that occurred on August 4, 2004, in the area of Seven Mile Road and Van Dyke at approximately 5:00 p.m. It is alleged that the victim entered Grant's car and was beaten and then forced her to have sexual contact with him.

This case was submitted as part of the Wave 1 testing of the National Institute of Justice Detroit Rape Kit Project. The suspect was unknown at the time of the assault.

Grant is expected to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. today in 36th District Court.
