Westland Man Arraigned on Homicide

Jaime Allen Pearson, 38 (DOB: 5/17/76) of Westland, has been charged in connection with the homicide of Rachel Watson, 30, of Westland. On the evening of October 22, 2014, the police were dispatched to a home in the 34800 block of Avondale to do a wellness check on Ms. Watson and discovered her lifeless body.

Investigation by the police led to the arrest of Pearson, the victim's boyfriend. It is alleged that he strangled her to death.

Pearson was arraigned and remanded to jail on Sunday, October 26, 2014 in 34th District Court in Romulus. His preliminary examination will be held on November 6, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. Please contact the Westland Police Department for a photograph of the defendant.

Detroit Man and Woman Charged and Arraigned in Death of Seven-Year-Old Boy

Victoria Joan Foster, 22 (DOB: 1/13/92), and Cory Ivan Rimson, 28 (DOB: 8/8/86), both of Detroit, have been charged in connection with the death of Ms. Foster's seven-year-old son, Immanuel Foster. On October 24, 2014, the child was pronounced dead at a local hospital at approximately 6:15 a.m. He was observed to have bruises and abrasions on his body. It is alleged that both adults are responsible for the death of the child.

Foster and Rimson have each been charged with Felony Murder and Torture. The defendants were charged and arraigned on Friday, October 24, 2014, however we were unaware of this until 11:45 a.m. today. Foster and Rimson were remanded to jail and will have their preliminary examination on November 6, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Joseph Baltimore.

Detroit Woman Charged in Beating Death of 66-Year-Old Livonia Woman

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Tewana E. Sullivan, 50 (DOB: 4/23/64), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal beating of a 66-year-old female residing at an apartment building located in the 19500 block of Purlingbrook in Livonia. On October 22, 2014 at approximately 10:13 p.m., it is alleged that Sullivan was in the building visiting a relative, when she severely beat the 66-yearold victim. The Livonia Police Department was dispatched to the building when the defendant called 911. Officers investigating the case discovered the unconscious body of the victim and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The defendant was placed under arrest at the scene. On Friday, October 24, 2014, the defendant was charged and arraigned on one count of Assault with Intent to Murder and is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail. The preliminary examination is scheduled for November 6, 2014.

On Saturday, October 25, 2014, the victim died from the wounds inflicted during the beating. The charges in the case have been amended to First Degree Murder. Sullivan will be arraigned on the new charges in 16th District Court at 9:00 a.m. on November 6, 2014.

Mother Charged in Connection with Non-Fatal Shooting Her Young Son

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Latasha Tamika Lum, 30 (DOB: 7/21/84), of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of her four-year-old son. It is alleged that on October 27, 2014 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Lum fell asleep with a hand gun in the living room of her home located in the 6200 block of Minock, when she was awakened by a gunshot. She discovered that her son shot himself once in the left leg with the weapon. She immediately took him to a local hospital for treatment; he is expected to recover from his wound.

Lum has been charged with one count of Child Abuse Second Degree. She was arraigned in 36th District Court is afternoon and received a $25,000/10% cash bond. Her preliminary examination is scheduled for November 10, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Kenneth King.

Robert Bashara Trial Adjournment - Judge Vonda Evans adjourned the trial until Monday, November 3, 2014. The court indicated that Defendant Bashara was having unspecified medical issues that prevented him from attending the trial.

Donnie Everett - Detroit man charged in the homicide of a three-year-old girl on Mogul Street. The preliminary examination will not take place tomorrow. The defendant was referred for competency and criminal responsibility. The case is scheduled for January 29, 2015 before Judge Joseph Baltimore on the issue of competency to stand trial only.

Bassel Saad - Defendant charged in connection with an assault on a referee in an adult soccer game will have his final conference tomorrow before Judge Cynthia Hathaway at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Roksana Sikorski and Miguel Rivera - Plymouth Township teen and her adult boyfriend accused of Conspiracy to Murder her family and an assault with a knife that injured her younger brother. The case is scheduled for a preliminary examination tomorrow before Judge Michael Gerou in 35th District Court.

Jayru Campbell - On October 30, 2014, pleaded guilty to a probation violation on the case where he was convicted of assaulting a security guard. Note: Jayru Campbell is scheduled to be sentenced on the probation violation on November 4, 2014 promptly at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Timothy Kenny.

On November 7, 2014 at 9:15 a.m., Campbell is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing in 36th District Court on his Domestic Violence Assault and Battery charge before Ruth Carter.

Father Charged In Non-Fatal Shooting of Six Year-Old Son

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Decovier English, 31 (DOB: 2/1/83), of Detroit, in connection with a non-fatal shooting incident involving his six-year-old son. On October 29, 2014 at 10:15 p.m. in a home in the 18400 block of Algonac, it is alleged that the six-year-old victim shot himself once in the hand with a gun that was located in an upstairs bedroom. The weapon belonged to the defendant. The child was taken to a local hospital and treated for the wound. The defendant was arrested at the hospital without incident.

English has been charged with Child Abuse Second Degree, Child Abuse Fourth Degree and Careless Discharge of a Weapon Causing Injury or Death. English was arraigned today and was given a $10,000/10% bond. His preliminary examination will be held on November 13, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in 36th District Court. Romulus Police Corruption Defendants Balzer, Landry and Hopkins - The defendants will be sentenced on November 4, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Michael Hathaway.

Roksana Sikorski and Michael Rivera - Plymouth Township teen and her adult boyfriend accused of Conspiracy to Murder her family and an assault with a knife that injured her younger brother. The preliminary examination before Judge Michael Gerou in 35th District Court was adjourned today because the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office requested a Competency referral for Sikorski, which was granted. The next date for the Competency Hearing and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on December 12, 2014.

"Based on information we have about Ms. Sikorski, we have decided that the most prudent way to proceed is to have the court refer her for a competency evaluation by the Forensic Center," said Maria Miller.

Couple Charged in Homicide of Elderly Plymouth Township Man

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Andrew Jeffrey Nutt, 22 (DOB: 7/9/92) of Westland and Miriah Nichole Pisarski, 19 (DOB: 11/4/94) of Wayne, in connection with the homicide of Kenneth Labita, 76, of Plymouth Township. On Monday, October 27, 2014, the Plymouth Township Police were called to Mr. Labita's home in the 40800 block of Gilbert to conduct a welfare check on him. He was found in the home dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

As a result of the police investigation, Nutt and Pisarski were identified as suspects in the homicide. It is alleged that Pisarski was present when her boyfriend Nutt fatally shot and killed the victim in his home on October 24, 2014 sometime in the late afternoon. After the fatal shooting, Nutt and Pisarski are alleged to have stolen cash and several guns from Mr. Labita before fleeing the scene.

The defendants have each been charged with: First Degree Premeditated Murder; Felony Murder; Larceny of Firearms and Felony Firearm. They were arraigned and remanded to jail today in 35th District Court in Plymouth. Their preliminary examination will be held on November 14, 2014 at 8:30 a.m.

Detroit Woman Charged in September 17th Fatal Car Crash

Tawana Jazmine Ray, 21 (DOB: 3/31/93) is alleged to have been driving on September 17, 2014 at 10:13 p.m., at a location of Greenfield Road and Ellis in Detroit, when she fatally struck Bibaron Stokes, 55. Both the defendant and Ms. Strokes were Detroit residents. The defendant is alleged to have fled the scene and the victim was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead on the arrival.

Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of Ms. Ray. She has been charged with Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death. She was arraigned in 36th District Court on October 30, 2014 and received a $1 million dollar cash/surety bond. Her preliminary examination is scheduled for November 12, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. before 36th District Court Judge Michael Wagner in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.

Ali Elatrache - Convicted of Felony Murder and Second Degree Murder in the homicide of an elderly Inkster man. His sentence hearing will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014 before Judge Timothy Kenny.
