Robert Bashara -The preliminary examination will be held on September 9, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. before 36th District Court Judge Kenneth King in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice. The hearing is estimated to take approximately 5 days.

Semeria Greene - Mother charged with the murder of her 8-year-old daughter. Greene was arraigned today before Judge Margaret Van Houten. The defense received an order for an independent referral for competency and a referral for competency to waive Miranda Rights today. The next court date is October 30, 2013.

Robert Bashara - On Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., Judge Kenneth King will hear the Prosecution's Motion to Compel Discovery from the Defense. The motion hearing will take place in Judge King's courtroom located in 36th District Court. The preliminary examination will be held on September 9, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Kenneth King in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice. The preliminary examination hearing is estimated to take approximately five days.

Robert Bashara - We have just been informed that Judge Kenneth King will hear the Prosecution's Motion to Compel Discovery from the Defense on the same day as the preliminary examination on September 9, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.

William Rice - Former DPD Homicide Lieutenant is alleged to have committed perjury during an appellate court hearing. His final conference date has been changed from Friday, September 6th to Thursday, September 5, 2013, at 9:15 a.m. by the court.

Detroit Police Department 911 Dispatcher Press Conference - The Detroit Police Department sent a warrant request to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office in May, 2013 regarding allegations of a delayed response by a 911 dispatcher on a domestic violence call where a female victim was killed. In June 2013, the warrant request was returned to DPD because further investigation was requested by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. DPD has not re-submitted the warrant for review by this office. It is our understanding that they continuing to complete the investigatory work that was requested.

Ali Mohamed Elatrache- Defendant charged on July 20, 2013 with the July 18, 2012 homicide of Mohammed Aljbaily, 72, of Inkster. It is alleged that Elatrache had made numerous threats against Mr. Aljbaily and his 30-year-old daughter, who was his former girlfriend. At approximately 6:30 p.m., the defendant is alleged to have forced his way into the family home located in the 100 block of Cherry Hill Drive and strangled the elderly male victim and stole money and personal property from the home. On or about July 18, 2013, the defendant fled to Canada. Today he is being extradited back to the United States and transported to Dearborn.

Elatrache has been charged with First Degree Premeditated Murder, Felony Murder, Home Invasion First Degree and misdemeanor Stalking. He is expected to be arraigned on Friday, September 6, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. in 22nd District Court in Inkster before Judge Sabrina Johnson. William Rice -Former Detroit Police Homicide Lieutenant charged with perjury in an appellate proceeding. Today at the Final Conference before Judge Gregory Bill, the defense requested, and was granted, an adjournment of the trial over the prosecution's objection. Judge Bill, set September 17, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. as a special pre-trial date and cancelled the trial. He set a tentative trial date for February 24, 2014, 9:00 a.m. On December 13, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., there will be a Final Conference for both the Perjury case and the Continuing Criminal Enterprise case.

Detroit Male Charged in Homicide of 12-Year-Old Kenis Green

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Alvin Demetrius Conwell, 33, of Detroit, in connection with the murder of Kenis Green, 12, and the non-fatal shooting of Greg Owens, 25, both of Detroit. On August 31, 2013, at approximately 1:15 a.m., it is alleged that Conwell and Owens had a verbal confrontation. Afterward, Conwell had a physical altercation with another male in front of a home located in the 14100 block of Rutherford. After the physical altercation, it is alleged that Conwell left the location on foot, returned in a car and opened fire fatally wounding Green and critically wounding Owens. After the shots were fired, he sped away in the same car. Green was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. Owens was transported to a local hospital where he is currently receiving treatment for his wounds.

Conwell has been charged with First Degree Premeditated Murder, two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder and Felony Firearm. He was arraigned today and remanded to jail. His preliminary examination will be held on September 10, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Please contact the Detroit Police Department for a photograph of the defendant.

Detroit Police Department 911 Dispatcher Warrant Request - The Detroit Police Department sent a warrant request to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office in May 2013 regarding allegations of a delayed response by a 911 dispatcher on a domestic violence call that occurred on May 12, 2013, at 4:45 a.m. where a female victim was subsequently killed. In June 2013, the warrant request was returned to DPD because further investigation was requested by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. Today DPD re-submitted the warrant with the supporting investigatory work completed. The warrant request is currently being reviewed. We have not received a warrant request for an alleged incident with a 911 dispatcher that occurred in August at this time.

Derrick D. Williams and Bryce A. Hendricks - Defendants posing as "Fugitive Recovery Agents " and charged with the armed robbery of two men while impersonating the police were bound over at their preliminary examination today. They will be arraigned on the information on September 12th, 2013.
