Dominique Jones-Hardy, 31 (DOB: 10/01/1986) of Detroit, was charged with Child Abuse First Degree and Child Abuse Second Degree on Thursday, December 14, 2017. He was arraigned on Friday December 15, 2017, and received a $500,000 cash bond. He is currently in the Wayne County Jail.

On December 11, 2017 at Hardy's home in the 11600 block of Laing, it is alleged that he abused his eight-month-old boy, causing a severe head injury. The child was taken to a local hospital on December 12t, 2017 for treatment and died on December 14, 2017.

On December 16, 2017, the warrant was amended adding a charge of Felony Murder, Second Degree Murder, and the original child abuse charges.* Jones-Hardy will be arraigned on the new charges at his Probable Cause Conference in 36th District Court on December 21, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Prosecutor Worthy Charges Police Officers with Murder, Misconduct and Other Charges

See press release attached. Defendants Mark Bessner, Lonnie Wade, and Richard Billingslea will be arraigned tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. in 36th District Court. An update will be sent out when arraignment information is confirmed for Defendant Hicks.

Prosecutor Worthy Charges Police Officers with Murder, Misconduct
and Other Charges

Mark Lin Bessner was arraigned this morning before 36th District Court Magistrate Bari Blake Wood. The probable cause conference is scheduled for January 4, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for January 11, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before 36th District Court Judge William C. McConico. The defendant received a $1M cash/surety bond (plus GPS tether).

Richard Billingslea was arraigned on two separate cases this morning before 36th District Court Magistrate Bari Blake Wood. The probable cause conferences are scheduled for January 2, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examinations are scheduled for January 8, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before 36th District Court Judge William C. McConico. The defendant received a $5,000/10% bond on the Obstruction of Justice case. The defendant received a $50,000/10% (plus GPS tether) bond on Great Bodily Harm, Aggravated Assault and Misconduct case.

Lonnie Wade was arraigned this morning before 36th District Court Magistrate Bari Blake Wood. The probable cause conference is scheduled for January 2, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for January 8, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before 36th District Court Judge Deborah Lewis Langston. The defendant received a $50,000/10% bond (plus GPS tether).

Westland Man Charged in Murder of His Mother

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Justin Jay Paul, 22(DOB:10/23/1995), of Westland in connection with the killing of his mother Jeannette Lee Paul, 50, also of Westland. On December 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at their home located in the 6100 block of North Walton it is alleged that the defendant fatally stabbed his mother in the throat and fled the location. A family member called the police to the location. The police found the lifeless body of Mrs. Paul inside the home.

The defendant fled from the home and was later apprehended on the same day by the Livonia Police Department.

During the apprehension of Paul he was shot in the upper thigh by a Livonia Police Officer. The defendant was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

He has been charged with First Degree Murder*and is expected to be arraigned this morning at 9:00 a.m. in 18th District Court in Westland.

*The charges are allegations unless or until and unless the defendant is convicted.
