Dominique Jones-Hardy, 31, DOB: 10/01/1986, of Detroit - On Thursday, December 13, 2017, the Defendant was charged with Child Abuse First Degree and Child Abuse Second Degree, and arraigned on Friday December 15, 2017, receiving a $500,000 cash bond. He is currently in the Wayne County Jail. On December 11, 2017 at Hardy's home in the 11600 block of Lang it is alleged that he abused his eight month old boy causing a severe head injury. The child was taken to a local hospital on December 12, 2017 for treatment and died on December 14, 2017.

On December 16, 2017 the warrant was amended adding a charge of Felony Murder, Second Degree Murder, and the original child abuse charges.* Today Jones-Hardy was bound over on all charges at the preliminary examination in 36th District Court. The arraignment on the Information is scheduled for January 29, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.

Sumpter Township Couple Arraigned and Remanded To Jail

Defendants Candice Renea Diaz and Brad Edward Fields, the Sumpter Township mother and her boyfriend charged with Felony Murder, Second Degree Murder, Torture and Child Abuse First Degree* in connection with the January 1, 2018 death of four-year-old Gabrielle Barrett, were transported back to Sumpter Township Police Department on January 19, 2018.

The couple was arraigned and remanded to jail on Saturday, January 20, 2018. Their Probable Cause Hearing is on January 31, 2018 and the Preliminary Examination is on February 7, 2018, both at 9:00 a.m. in 34th District Court.

Aaron Stewart and Quentin Flemons - Defendants charged in connection in two kidnappings and sexual assault cases. Today Aaron Stewart had his final conference hearing pleaded guilty as charged to all counts on the Detroit Case 17-009803-01 and the Hamtramck Case 17-009891-01 before Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway. His sentence hearing is scheduled for February 6, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.

Defendant Quentin Flemons will have his final conference before Judge Hathaway on Wednesday, January 25, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.

Mark Bessner - Defendant Michigan State Police Officer charged in connection with the August 26, 2017 fatal ATV crash that killed 15-year-old Damon Grimes on Rossini Street in Detroit. At the preliminary examination today the court granted the defense request for an adjournment to review the discovery in the case. The new date for the preliminary examination is on Thursday, February 1, 2018. There was also a request by the defense to modify the bond. The court declined to change the one million dollar cash/surety bond.

Sharnea McCoy and Erica Osburn - Defendants charged with First Degree Murder and Felony Firearm in connection with the February 24, 2017 fatal shooting of 17-year-old Reginald R. Robinson on Plymouth Road in Detroit. Today both defendants pled guilty. Osborn, who shot Robinson, pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder with a sentence agreement of 27 years to 50 year, ,and two years consecutive on the Felony Firearm charge. McCoy, who drove Osborn during the course of the crime, also pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder, with a sentence agreement of 16 years to 40 years, and two years consecutive on Felony Firearm charge. Both defendants will be sentenced on February 7, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Dalton Roberson.

Marquis Cromer - Defendant charged in September, 2016 homicide of DPD Officer Kenneth Steil. Today the Defendant pleaded No Contest - Guilty but Mentally Ill to Second Degree Murder, with a sentence agreement of 38 years to 75 years and two years consecutive for Felony Firearm (Case number 17-3973). He pleaded No Contest - Guilty but Mentally Ill to Assault with Intent to Murder, with a with a sentence agreement of five years to ten years concurrent, and a two year consecutive sentence for Felony Firearm (Case Number 17-3971). Cromer also pleaded No Contest - Guilty but Mentally Ill to Carjacking, with a sentence agreement for 20 years to 30 years consecutive and a two year consecutive sentence for Felony Firearm (Case number 17-392). The defendant will be sentenced before Judge Shannon Walker on February 1, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Upon sentencing the defendant will be incarcerated in the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Detroit Man Charged in Shooting of DPD Officer on McDougall Street

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Decharlos O. Brooks, 43 (DOB: 08/07/1974), of Detroit, in connection with the shooting of Detroit Police Department Officer Glenn Doss. On January 24, 2018 at approximately 10:09 p.m., DPD officers were dispatched to a house in the 5500 block of McDougall, responding to shots fired. It is alleged that Brooks shot Officer Doss in the head. The wounded officer was transported to a local hospital where he is currently receiving treatment. It is further alleged that, after shooting the officer, Brooks stood pointing his handgun at other officers at the scene. Shortly thereafter, Brooks barricaded himself inside his house until the DPD Special Response Team was able to remove him from the house and place him under arrest.

Brooks has been charged with: eight counts of Assault with Intent to Murder; seven counts of Resisting and Obstructing; one count of Carrying a Dangerous Weapon and 17 counts of Felony Firearm*.

Brooks was arraigned and remanded on Saturday, January 27, 2018 after 11:00 a.m. in 34th District Court. His Probable Cause Conference is on February 6, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. in 36th District Court in Detroit.

*The charges are allegations unless of until the defendant is convicted.
