Decharlos Brooks - Defendant charged in connection with the January 24, 2018 shooting of DPD officer Glenn Doss on McDougall Street in Detroit. Today he was arraigned before Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway. She disclosed her marriage to a police officer and set Friday, July 20, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. for the Defendant and his attorney to determine if he wants his case to go to another judge or remain with Judge Hathaway.

Detroit Mother and Friend Charged in Infant's Drowning

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Dasiah Nichelle Jordan, 26 (DOB: 09/17/1991) and Tonya Desirae Peterson, 28, (DOB: 08/28/1989), both of Detroit, in connection with the death of Ca'Mya Davis, the 11-month-old infant daughter of Dasiah Nichelle Jordan.On July 6, 2018 at approximately 11:30 p.m., EMTs responded to a 911 call in the 15000 block of Ferguson Street in Detroit regarding a child not breathing. Upon arrival, medics began CPR on the infant and transported her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Earlier on July 6, 2017, it is alleged that Defendant Jordan left her infant daughter in the care of Defendant Peterson in an unsafe home and went out to visit friends. The infant roamed the house unattended, fell through the hole in a bedroom floor, and drowned in standing water and sewage in the basement. Defendant Peterson and Defendant Jordan were both aware of the hazardous and unsafe condition in the bedroom.

Defendants Jordan and Peterson have both been charged with Manslaughter and Child Abuse - Second Degree*.

Defendant Jordan was arraigned July 17, 2018 before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The probable cause conference is scheduled for July 24, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for July 30, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge William McConico in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $25,000/10% bond.

Defendant Peterson was arraigned this morning before 36th District Court Magistrate Jeffrey Kleparek. The probable cause conference is scheduled for July 24, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for July 30, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $55,000/10% bond.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Robert Stanzler -The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has not been presented with any paperwork regarding Robert Stanzler.

Darius Jackson - Defendant charged in connection with the February 26, 2018 sexual assault and armed robbery of a woman in the Detroit Opera House garage. Today the defendant was scheduled to be sentenced before Judge Kelly Ramsey to Armed Robbery with a 16 to 30 year sentence agreement, Assault with Intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct, with a four to ten year sentence and two years consecutive on the Felony Firearm charge, pursuant to a sentence agreement. RA - 16 years to 30 yrs MDOC. In return for the July 5, 2018 plea and sentence agreement, the Kidnapping, Criminal Sexual Conduct Second Degree, Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm and Felonious Assault charges were to be dismissed on the date of the sentence.The defense asked the court to change the term of years on the Armed Robbery to eight years. The prosecution argued that if the defendant did not want to honor the sentence agreement the only option under the law is to proceed to trial on all of the charges. Judge Ramsey indicated that she would have a decision on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.

Decharlos Brooks - Defendant charged in connection with the January 24, 2018 shooting of DPD officer Glenn Doss on McDougall Street in Detroit. On July 17, 2018 Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway disclosed that she is married to a police officer and gave the defense until today to determine whether they would ask the judge to recuse herself from the case. Today Judge Hathaway granted the defense motion for recusal and the case has been moved to Judge Bruce Morrow's docket. There is a final conference date scheduled for September 21, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.

Businessman Charged with Assault and Battery in Eastern Market
Spitting Incident

Today Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Robert Stanzler, 50, (DOB: 10/17/1967), of Ferndale, in connection with an assault on Ibrahim Faison, 29, of Detroit, who was working as a security guard at a business event in Eastern Market.

On July 17, 2018 at approximately 9:36 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched for a disturbance at a location in the 3400 block of Russell Street in Eastern Market. Upon arrival, the officers spoke with the victim. It is alleged that the defendant was upset about parking by others on his property when he made an obscene gesture and spat in Faison's face. The victim provided cell phone video of the incident to the police. The defendant was arrested at the scene, but was later released from custody the same day.

The not in custody warrant charges Stanzler with misdemeanor Assault and Battery.* The Detroit Police Department has informed WCPO that on Monday they will have updated information regarding the time and date of the arraignment in 36th District Court.
