Detroit Man Charged in Braille Street Homicide

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Willie L. Wilborn, 29 (DOB: 04/18/1988), of Detroit, in connection with the homicide of LaDiamond Myers, 24, also of Detroit. During the evening of June 28, 2017, Wilborn and the victim had a domestic dispute in their home located in the 15400 block of Braille Street where it is alleged that Wilborn used blunt force to the head of Ms. Myers. On June 29, 2017 at 9:06 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a vacant house, also located in the 15400 block of Braille, where they discovered the lifeless body of the victim.

Wilborn has been charged with First Degree Murder*. He was arraigned this afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The probable cause conference is scheduled for July 19, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for July 26, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before 36th District Court Judge Kenneth King.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Detroit Man Charged With Felony Escape

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Joe Brayton Coleman, (DOB: 07/12/1998), of Detroit, in connection with escaping from police custody. On June 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., Coleman was arrested by Detroit police officers for an alleged outstanding warrant issued in March 2017 for Unarmed Robbery, Larceny from a Person and Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property over $1,000 and less than $20,000. It is further alleged that prior to being transported to the Detroit Detention Center, Coleman broke free of his restraints and fled from the Sixth Precinct. He was located and arrested by DPD officers on July 5, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. In Detroit.

Coleman has been charged with Felony Escape*. He was arraigned this afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Dawn M. White. The probable cause conference is scheduled for July 14, 2017 at 8:30 a.m; the preliminary exam is scheduled for July 21, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before 36th District Court Judge Deborah Lewis Langston. The defendant received a $50,000 cash/surety bond.

Detroit Pair Charged in Assault of DPD Officer

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Mario Delgado, 23 (DOB: 07/20/1993), and Erica Garcia, 27 (DOB: 04/30/1990), both of Detroit, in connection with an assault on a male Detroit police officer. On July 6, 2017, at 12:10 a.m. at a location in front of 3650 block of Clippert, several occupants of a car were being investigated by DPD officers. While the investigation was taking place and the occupants were ordered to leave the car, it is alleged that Delgado rushed one of the officers and bumped him in the chest. It is alleged that Garcia went into a house on Clippert, retrieved a stun gun and deployed it on the officer that Delgado bumped in the chest. The defendants were both placed under arrest at the scene.

Defendant Delgado has been charged with Resisting and Obstructing Police*.

Defendant Garcia has been charged with:Felonious Assault, Possession of Taser and Resisting & Obstructing Police*.

Delgado and Garcia are expected to be arraigned tomorrow after 11:00 a.m. in 34th District Court in Romulus.
