Canton Man Charged in Fatal Car Crash

On Monday, July 9, 2018 Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Tyler Robinson, 25 (DOB: 02/01/1993), of Canton, in connection with a fatal car crash that occurred in Wayne, Michigan. On July 6, 2018 at 11:30 p.m., at Wayne Road and East Michigan Avenue, it is alleged that Robinson disregarded a red light and crashed into a black car, killing a 54-year-old woman from West Bloomfield. Wayne police officers were dispatched to crash scene and smelled the odor of intoxicants on Robinson. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and, on July 7, 2018 at 6:30 a.m., he was taken into custody by Wayne Police officers.

Robinson has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death and Reckless Driving Causing Death*. He was arraigned yesterday afternoon before Judge Laura Redmond Mack in 29th District Court in Wayne, MI. The probable cause conference is scheduled for July 17, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Mack. No preliminary examination has been scheduled at this time. The defendant received a $500,000 cash bond.

Thomas Lane - Woodhaven defendant charged in connection with the homicides of Mark Allan Harris 56, and his wife Catherine Anne Markowski, all of Flat Rock, Michigan. Defendant Lane had been living in the home of his sister, Ms. Markowski and his brother-in-law, Mr. Harris, for several months prior to their deaths. Today his preliminary examination has been scheduled for July 17, 2018 to continue on July 24, 2018.

Samiya Speed - Defendant charged in OWI crash that killed the road worker. She waived her preliminary examination today. The arraignment on the information is scheduled for July 24, 2018 however, the date may be changed.

Jerome Blanding - Defendant DPD police officer charged with an incident where he possessed a firearm under the influence of alcohol, and resisting and obstructing the police at an injury accident scene on Puritan in January 2018. Today Judge Vonda Evans adjourned the final conference date from July 12, 2018 until August 2, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.

Timothy Eubanks - Man charged in connection with the non-fatal shootings of two young children while in an unlicensed daycare operated by his wife, Samantha Eubanks, in their family home in Dearborn. Today Timothy Eubanks's sentence hearing was adjourned by Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway adjourned until July 26, 2018. Samantha Eubanks jury trial is scheduled to begin on July 16, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Hathaway.

Detroit Gas Thieves Charged

On July 11, 2018 Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Damon Blocker, 29 (DOB: 05/19/1989), and Reginald Hollien, 34 (DOB: 08/07/83), both of Detroit, in connection with stealing gas from a Detroit gas station. On June 23, 2018 at approximately 12:50 p.m. and at 2:30 p.m., it is alleged that the defendants stole approximately 600 gallons of gasoline from a pump at a Marathon station located in the 17800 block of Seven Mile Road. While still at the gas station, the defendants sold and accepted cash for the gas. Once this was discovered, the attendants at the station attempted to disable the pump by computer. The attempt was unsuccessful and eventually the attendants had to activate an emergency shut off, disabling all of the pumps at the station. The defendants left the station and the police were called. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department resulted in the arrest of the defendants on July 9, 2018.Defendants Blocker and Hollien are charged with: Use of a Computer to Commit a Crime; Organized Retail Crime and Larceny $1,000-$20,000*.

Prosecutor Worthy said, "The alleged actions of these defendants show a critical need for the protection of businesses in Wayne County. We must ensure that businesses in this County are fully supported and protected."

Both defendants were arraigned late in the afternoon on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Blocker received a $75,000/10% bond and Hollien received a $50,000/10% bond. The probable cause conference date is July 18, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Dana M. Hathaway in 36th District Court.

Charges Issue in Abuse Case of Three Patients at Livonia COPE Facility

On July 11, 2018 Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged members of the staff of Livonia COPE (Community Outreach for Psychiatric Emergencies). Livonia COPE is a community outreach facility located in the 33500 block of Schoolcraft Road for patients with psychiatric emergencies.* It is alleged that in March of 2018, facility employees, Kyle Jackson, 30 (DOB: 03/25/1987), of Oak Park, Wynton Dixon, 57 (DOB: 10/02/1960) of Detroit, Victor Peterson (DOB: 12/11/1957) of River Rouge, Thomas May (DOB: 02/27/1959) of Westland Demetris Hunt, 28 (DOB: 07/20/1989), of Wayne, and Delvan Johnson, 24 (DOB: 11/29/1993), of Redford, physically assaulted three male patients, a 26-year-old from Redford, a 48-year old from Romulus and a 51-year-old from Dearborn Heights, who were mental health recipients at that time.

Additionally, it is alleged that staff psychiatrist Dr. Hanumaiah Bandla, 64, (DOB: 07/01/1953), of West Bloomfield, and nurse Erma Owens, 79, (DOB: 06/23/1938), of Inkster, failed to report abuse of the three men. More complete facts and the evidence in the case will be presented on the record in court.

Defendant Kyle Jackson was arraigned on July 11, 2018 and received a $5000/10% cash or surety bond. His Probable Cause Conference is on July 19th at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Kathleen McCann.

On Thursday, July 12, 2018, the following defendants were arraigned in 16th District Court in Livonia:

Defendants Bandla and Owens received a $5000/10% bond and pretrial conferences on August 8, 2018. Defendants May, Dixon, Peterson and Hunt will have their Probable Cause Conferences on July 19, 2018. Defendant May received a personal bond. Defendants Dixon and Peterson received 10,000/10% bonds. Defendant Hunt received a $5000/10% bond.

On Friday, July 13, 2018, Defendant Delvan Johnson was arraigned and received a 10,000/10% bond. His Probable Cause Conference is on July 19, 2018.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy said, "The alleged abuse inflicted by these defendants is shocking. The victims sought psychiatric help and were met with the opposite of help. We have to be much better than this. People that seek assistance deserve compassion, respect, and treatment that is beyond reproach."

Monroe Man Charged in Northville Township Non-Fatal Stabbing

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Christian Andrew Gardner, 51 (DOB: 10/22/1966), of Monroe, MI in connection with the non-fatal stabbing of a 44-year-old female Northville Township resident. The defendant and the victim were acquainted.

On July 12, 2018 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Northville Township police were dispatched to a home in the 19500 block of Northridge Drive in Northville Township, MI. Upon arrival, the officers observed the female victim standing outside of the location, bleeding from three abdominal stab wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. It is alleged the defendant stabbed the victim multiple times. The police arrested Gardner in the home and took him into custody on the same day.

Gardner has been charged with three counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, Felonious Assault, Resisting and Obstructing the Police, and Domestic Violence Second Offense.* He is expected to be arraigned this afternoon in 35th District Court, but WCPO has not been given a time.
