Highland Park Man Charged in State Fair Street Homicide

Ty Shawn Bost, 24 (DOB: 3/7/91), of Highland Park, Michigan has been charged with Open Murder in the homicide of his former girlfriend. On March 4, 2016, at approximately 7:32 a.m., Detroit police officers were called to a home in the 14100 block of State Fair. It is alleged that they captured and arrested Bost as he was attempting to flee the location. Once inside the location, the officers discovered the lifeless body of Tiris Doss, 21, of Detroit. The victim had a large laceration to her neck. It is alleged that Bost fatally cut his former girlfriend.

Bost was arraigned yesterday in 34th District Court in Romulus. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 16, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 23, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Nance-Adams in 36th District Court.

Taylor Man Charged in Death of Four-Year-Old Daughter

Demar W. Canada, 25 (DOB: 8/31/90), of Taylor, has been charged with Felony Murder and Second Degree Murder in connection with the death of his four-year-old daughter. On May 24, 2015 at 8:51 a.m., Taylor police were called to his home in the 25100 block of Darian Street because the child was found unresponsive. The child was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was from severe head trauma caused by the defendant. Further information regarding the facts of the case will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.

Canada has been arraigned. The probable cause conference is scheduled for March 14, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for March 21, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in 23rd District Court.

Detroit Man Charged in Home Invasion of Retired DPD Officer

Jalen Kristopher Whitlock (DOB: 3/27/1993) has been charged with Attempted Home Invasion - First Degree and Felony Firearm. It is alleged that on March 1, 2016 at 1:20 p.m., he and another man attempted to enter a home in the 5400 block of West Outer Drive. The owner of the home, a 76-year -old retired DPD officer, who was fearing for his safety, fired several shots with his handgun, striking Whitlock. The homeowner recovered a weapon on the defendant's person. Whitlock fled the scene on foot but was apprehended at a local hospital.

Whitlock was arraigned in the hospital today. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 14, 2016 @ 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 21, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $10,000/10% bond.

Jerry Wayne McCoy - Defendant charged in homicide of woman reported missing in 2015. The defendant was arraigned in 34th District Court in Romulus on Saturday, March 5, 2016. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 15, 2016 and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 22, 2016 in 36th District Court.

Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Henry Saad Charged with Misdemeanor

Today Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Henry Saad, (DOB: 1/15/48), has been charged with Possessing a Firearm in a Sterile Area, a 90-day misdemeanor. On February 21, 2016 at 8:29 a.m., it is alleged that Judge Saad was in the security area at Detroit Metro Airport when a handgun was found in his carry-on bag. The handgun was confiscated and Judge Saad was released pending a warrant request by the airport authorities.

"Airport security breaches - even unintentional ones - are taken very seriously," said Prosecutor Worthy. "We have consulted with officials at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport, and are charging Judge Saad with a misdemeanor offense consistent with others that have allegedly committed a similar offense."

Judge Saad is expected to be arraigned in 34th District Court in Romulus on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.

Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Henry Saad Arraigned on Misdemeanor

Today Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Henry Saad, (DOB: 1/15/48), has been charged with Possessing a Firearm in a Sterile Area, a 90-day misdemeanor. On February 21, 2016 at 8:29 a.m., it is alleged that Judge Saad was in the security area at Detroit Metro Airport when a handgun was found in his carry-on bag. The handgun was confiscated and Judge Saad was released pending a warrant request by the airport authorities.

"Airport security breaches - even unintentional ones - are taken very seriously," said Prosecutor Worthy. "We have consulted with officials at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport, and are charging Judge Saad with a misdemeanor offense consistent with others that have allegedly committed a similar offense."

Today Judge Saad presented himself for arraignment and entered a guilty plea to Possessing a Firearm in a Sterile Area, a 90-day misdemeanor. Judge Tina Greene allowed Judge Saad to enter a guilty plea to in the court's chambers in 34th District Court in Romulus. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office noted their disagreement with Judge Green's decision to not hold the proceedings on the record in open court.

Detroit Man Charged in Infant Homicide

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Deandre Deshawn Hamilton, 23 (DOB: 3/22/92), of Detroit, in connection with the death of his four-month-old son, Elijah Jones. On March 6, 2016 at 6:15 p.m., medics were called to an apartment in the 200 block of West Grand Boulevard because the victim was not breathing. The infant was pronounced dead at 6:56 p.m. on the same day. The medical examiner determined that the child died from blunt force trauma. It is alleged that the defendant murdered the infant while his mother was at work.

Hamilton has been charged with: Felony Murder; Child Abuse First Degree; and Child Abuse Second Degree. He was arraigned today in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 22, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 29, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Langston in 36th District Court.

Harper Woods Woman Charged with Calling in False Bomb Threat

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Ebony M. Holloway, 28 (DOB-4/11/87), of Harper Woods with False Report of Threat of Bomb/Harmful Devise, a four-year felony. On March 7, 2016, at approximately 10:56 a.m., it is alleged that Ms. Holloway called in a phone threat to blow up Harper Woods High School, located in the 20200 block of Beaconsfield. Investigation by the Harper Woods Police Department led to the identification of Ms. Holloway as the suspect in the case. Ms. Holloway is employed as a lunch assistant at an elementary school in the Harper Woods School District.

Further information regarding the case will be presented in court at the Preliminary Examination. The defendant was arraigned today. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 16, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 23, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. in 32-A District Court. A $25,000 personal bond was set, with conditions not to be on any Harper Woods school property. Please review the attached photograph of the defendant.

Detroit Man Arraigned in Melvindale Homicide

On February 13, 2016 at 6:55 p.m., it is alleged that Lamar Alexander Carter, 23 (DOB: 4/16/92), of Detroit, fatally shot and killed Sean Allen Key, 44, after a physical altercation at a children's party held at a location in the 19000 block of Allen Road in Melvindale. After the shooting, Carter fled from the scene. On February 18, 2016, Carter was not in custody when he was charged with First Degree Murder and Felony Firearm. Investigation by authorities located Carter in Alabama and on February 26, 2016, arrangements were made to have him extradited back to Michigan and he arrived yesterday. Carter was arraigned and remanded today in 24th District Court in Allen Park. His Probable Cause Conference date is March 18, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. and his Preliminary Examination April 1, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. See photograph attached.

Daraian aka Darian Winfield - Today the preliminary examination was held in the murder of a 17- year-old woman on Radnor Street and Winfield was bound over as charged on First Degree Murder, Home Invasion - First Degree, and CSC Second Degree. His arraignment date before Judge Catherine Heise is on March 17, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. There is a scheduled final conference date on his two other Detroit cases on April 15, 2016 before Judge Heise at 9:00 a.m.

Three Charged in Death of Detroit Firefighter David Madrigal

Today Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged three defendants in connection with the homicide of Detroit Firefighter David Madrigal, 59, of Detroit. On the evening of December 19, 2015, it is alleged that Timmy Lynn Soto, 32 (DOB: 11/3/83), of Detroit, Nicole Oneill, 33 (DOB: 5/19/82), of Detroit, and Christian Rasnick, 19 (DOB: 7/15/96), of Trenton, went to the victim's home on Vaughan Street and robbed, killed and stole personal property from the victim. It is also alleged that the victim's vehicle was driven to an alley near the 3800 block of Bangor by Defendants Soto and Rasnick was set on fire. The car was discovered on December 19, 2015 at approximately 6:56 p.m. on Bangor Street when the Detroit Fire Department responded to the fire.

On December 21, 2015, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Detroit Police Department responded to a call from a relative who went over to check on the victim and discovered his lifeless body. The relative also observed that the house was ransacked. The medical examiner determined that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. The details of the case will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.

Timmy Lynn Soto, Nicole Oneill, and Christian Rasnick, have each been charged with: Felony Murder; Armed Robbery, Larceny in a Building, and Arson Third Degree. Soto also been charged with Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Felony Firearm. Rasnick has an additional charge of Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile.

Prosecutor Worthy said, "It is very sad that a 26-year veteran of the Detroit Fire Department was murdered. We are glad to report that because of the tireless work of DPD homicide officers we are able to issue charges today."

The defendants are expected to be arraigned today in 36th District Court at 2:30 p.m.

Warren Man Charged in Violent Assault of Grosse Pointe Farms Designer Daniel Clancy

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged David Scott Corzilius, 49 (12/13/66), of Warren, in connection with the violent knife assault on Daniel Clancy, 69, of Grosse Pointe Farms. On March 6, 2016, at 4:00 p.m., Grosse Pointe Farms police officers responded to a call of a man found on the sidewalk in the 200 block of Voltaire Place. When they arrived, they observed Mr. Clancy bleeding heavily from his neck. He was transported to a local hospital where he continues to be treated for multiple knife wounds. In the house, blood was observed and there were signs of a struggle. Items of personal property including some valuable paintings owned by Mr. Clancy were reported missing.

On March 6, 2016, before 4:00 p.m., it is alleged that Corzilius demanded money, hit Clancy in the face, and bound his hands with duct tape. Corzilius slashed the Clancy's neck with a knife, stole property from his home, and drove away from the location with the stolen property in his truck. The defendant had been hired as a handyman to clean gutters and remove snow from Mr. Clancy's home. Investigation by the Grosse Pointe Farms Police Department resulted in the identification and arrest of Corzilius.

The defendant has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Felonious Assault, Armed Robbery, Home Invasion First Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment, and Larceny in a Building.

Prosecutor Worthy said: "It was pretty clear to those in law enforcement that this brutally violent assault was not random, but the work of someone who knew Mr. Clancy. The alleged actions of the defendant bear this out."

Corzilius was arraigned in Grosse Pointe Farms District Court before Judge Matthew R. Rumora at 5:00 p.m. He received a one million dollar cash/surety bond and the Probable Cause Hearing is on March 23, 2016, 8:00 a.m. and the Preliminary Examination will be held on March 30, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. before Judge Rumora.
