Allen Park Man Charged in Taylor Carjacking, Robbery and Assault

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged James Robert Farris, 40 (DOB: 07/29/1978), of Allen Park, in connection with the carjacking, armed robbery and assault of a 52-year-old Flat Rock woman.

On June 5, 2019 at approximately 8:38 a.m., Taylor police officers responded to a 911 call to a business in the 15800 block of Huron in Taylor, MI. Upon arrival, the officers were directed to the victim. It is alleged that the defendant carjacked the victim outside her place of employment, in the 23800 block of Eureka Road. The defendant produced a weapon, instructed the victim to move over and drove her in her vehicle to a nearby ATM. It is alleged that the defendant withdrew funds from the victim's account. It is alleged that the defendant then drove the victim to the business in the 15800 block of Huron and assaulted her before driving off in her vehicle with her personal property. Further facts and evidence of the case will be presented at the preliminary examination.

Farris has been charged with Carjacking, Armed Robbery, Assault with Intent to Murder, Unlawful Imprisonment, two counts of Financial Transaction Device - Stealing/Retaining Without Consent.* He was arraigned this afternoon before 23rd District Court Judge Geno Salomone. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for June 17, 2019 at 12:55 p.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for June 24, 2019 at 12:55 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Joseph Slaven in 23rd District Court.
