Highland Park Man Charged in Seven Mile/Coyle Street Fatal Car Crash

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Allivas Dondi Kyles, 32 (DOB: 01/05/1987), of Highland Park, in connection with the fatal car crash that killed Sherman Wright, 61 and Eugenia Frison, age 52, both of Detroit.

On May 14, 2019 at approximately 5:46 p.m., Detroit police officers in a marked scout car were on West Seven Mile Road when they were flagged down by several people about a car crash at West Seven Mile Road and Coyle. The officers drove to the scene and observed two crashed vehicles. The victims, Sherman Wright and Eugenia Frison, were found to be unresponsive at the scene of the crash. Medics transported them to a local hospital where they were both pronounced deceased. The driver of the second car fled the scene on foot. Investigation by the Detroit police officers led to the arrest of Defendant Kyles.

It is alleged that the defendant drove his vehicle eastbound on West Seven Mile Road at a high rate of speed, disregarded the red traffic signal at Coyle, and struck the victims' vehicle, killing them both.

Kyles has been charged with two counts of Second Degree Murder, two counts of Operating While License Suspended/Revoked/Denied Causing Death, and two counts of Failure to Stop at an Accident When At Fault Resulting in Death.*

Kyles was arraigned late yesterday afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for May 29, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for June 5, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Lynise Bryant in 36th District Court. The defendant was remanded to jail.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
