Detroit Man Charged in Home Invasion, Sexual Assault and Robbery

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Christopher C. Hightower, 30 (DOB: 11/30/1987), of Detroit, in connection with the home invasion, sexual assault, and robbery of a 56-year-old Detroit woman. On April 27, 2018, at 4:00 a.m., in the 12000 block of Stringham Court in Detroit, it is alleged that Hightower broke into the victim's home through her bedroom window. While in her house, he gestured as if he was armed with a gun, and then sexually assaulted her. It is alleged that, after the sexual assault, Hightower took personal property from the victim and fled from the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to that arrest of Hightower.

Hightower has been charged with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree, one count of Home Invasion First Degree and one count of Armed Robbery.* He was arraigned at 10:30 this morning before 36th District Court Magistrate Laura Echartea. The probable cause conference is scheduled for July 10, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for July 16, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $500,000 cash/surety bond.
