Detroit Man Charged In Domestic Violence Assault on Rohns Street

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Isaac "Ikey" Alexander, 45 (DOB: 07/29/1973), of Detroit. On October 10, 2018 at 7:12 p.m. in the 5740 block of Rohns, it is alleged that Alexander had a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation with his 34-year-old girlfriend.

An off-duty police officer observed the defendant choke and slam the woman into the ground and place a handgun to her head. The officer identified himself, displayed his badge, and he instructed Alexander to put the weapon down. It is alleged that Alexander failed to drop the weapon and, fearing for the safety of the woman and himself, the officer fired his weapon and struck Alexander. Alexander left the location in a car driven by his girlfriend that was subsequently involved in a car accident. When police were dispatched to the car accident on Mack near Alter Road, Alexander was recognized, arrested, and taken to the hospital for treatment for his wound.

Alexander has been charged with: Felonious Assault, Resisting and Obstructing the Police, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Domestic Violence and four counts of Felony Firearm.* Alexander had a hospital arraignment on Monday, October 15, 2018. He received a $100,000 cash bond. His Probable Cause Conference is on October 22, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. and his Preliminary Examination is on October 29, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Ronald Giles in 36th District Court.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
