Sanford McQueen and Karen Marie Geletzke Charged in Connection With One-Year-Old Infant's Death
Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Sanford McQueen, 22 (3-7-91), and Karen Marie Geletzke, 23 (10/24/90), both of Detroit, in connection with the death of a one-year-old infant. On January 23, 2014, at approximately 1:05 p.m., the police were called to a home in the 19300 block of Keating because an infant was not breathing. The child was left in the care of the defendants by his mother and was alleged to have been placed in a stroller covered with a blanket near a space heater. The child was transferred to a local hospital and pronounced dead. His death was caused by burns and declared a homicide by the medical examiner.
McQueen and Geletzke have both been charged with Second Degree Murder, Involuntary Manslaughter and Child Abuse Second Degree.
They were arraigned on Sunday without bond. Their preliminary examination is scheduled for February 16, 2014 at 1:30pm. in 36th District Court.
