Wayne County Department of Environment is proud to offer the
24-Hour
Environmental Hotline.
We are now pleased to announce our recent
partnership with the Wayne County Sheriff Department's Environmental
Task Force, providing you more access to a wide variety of environmental
services 7 days a week.
During Business Hours: You will receive same-day follow-up to
your questions or concerns from DOE staff.
After Business Hours: If your call is of an urgent nature, it
will be promptly forwarded to our staff on-call. All other calls
will be responded to on the next business day.
The following are examples of some issues regulated by the environmental
programs within the Department of Environment:
- Odor, dust, industrial air emissions and other air quality
related complaints.
- Drain maintenance, sewer maintenance, and
industrial sewage discharges.
- Landfill, illegal dumping, soil
runoff from construction sites and other solid waste related
complaints.
- Water pollution and other water quality related
complaints.
NOTE: If you witness an environmental crime taking
place, do not approach or confront those individuals, first call
your
local police
department or you may contact the Wayne County Sheriff Department's
Environmental Task Force [Monday - Friday between 10:00 a.m.
- 6:00 p.m.] at: 313-224-8520. All after-hours calls will be
handled
the next business day by the Wayne County Sheriff Department.

CITY OF DETROIT RESIDENTS:
If you witness illegal dumping taking place, immediately contact
the Detroit Police Department. Provide as much information possible,
including the exact location of illegal dumping, make/model/license
of the vehicle involved, and a good description of the illegal
dumpers.
