- Responsible for ordering and distribution of biologics and
vaccines to clinics, hospitals and physicians.
- Provides immune
globulin for exposures to diseases such as hepatitis and measles.
- Provides rabies vaccine for exposure to possible rabid animals.
- Coordinates influenza vaccine campaigns.

- Provides surveillance of communicable and unusual disease
outbreaks.
- Communicates with other agencies, hospitals, infectious
disease physicians and the community.

School Immunization Program
- Monitors 70,000 children’s immunization
records in more than 925 schools, and child care programs to
ensure childhood
immunization requirements.
- Enforcement through exclusion
of children from school who are under-immunized.
- Provides information
on communicable diseases.
Sexually Transmitted
Disease Control
- Provides surveillance and control of sexually
transmitted diseases including syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia.
- Provides
case and contact follow-up to ensure that clients are adequately
treated.
- Provides referrals to the Social Hygiene Clinic.
- Provides information
to the community.

Disease Control
- Responsible for surveillance and control of
tuberculosis disease in out-Wayne County.
- Provides follow-up
of cases and contacts for appropriate skin testing and treatment.
- Provides Direct Observed Therapy.

AIDS/HIV
Prevention and Control
- Provides FREE anonymous or confidential
AIDS/HIV counseling and testing.
- Provides inservices, educational
programs to schools, groups and other agencies.
