Important Health Expo planned for April 28 [ April 4, 2008 ]

Cover the Uninsured Week is a series of public activities that is designed to bring attention to the health-care needs of thousands of our fellow citizens. The main activity is a special Health Expo for the uninsured at Cobo Hall, which runs 8:30 a.m. through 4 p.m. April 28. There are nearly 1.4 million uninsured people in Michigan - 160,000 children. Wayne County has a disproportionate number of those children to protect. The Health Expo’s mission is to attract the under-and uninsured, directing them to health-screenings, eligibility and informational workshops and other activities to help ease the health disparities touching so many families exposed to our challenged economy and the high costs of care.
