In order to become a competitive and attractive state and region for businesses to locate and for people to live and work, the region must have a mass transit system.
For this region to be of championship caliber, we must have a transportation system that works.

Executive Ficano’s I-94 Corridor Rapid Transit project supports the completion of a $100-million study to design a mass transit line that would include a run from Detroit to Ann Arbor with connecting service to Detroit Metro Airport — a rail system and airport development together
are a winning combination. His message: “Let’s not be victims of analysis paralysis. Let’s get moving now!”

“It is no secret why Pfizer, Visteon Village, the proposed Magna entertainment facility and other businesses are located around the airport and near transit lines,” says Executive Ficano.

The lack of sufficient public transportation was evident during the Super Bowl in Detroit when some people had to wait hours in the cold rain and snow for too few and overcrowded shuttles. Year after year, mass transit becomes a focal point at the Detroit Regional Chamber Leadership Conference, yet the region lacks a sound solution. Executive Ficano firmly believes that the Ann Arbor- Detroit Rail System along I-94 will put the region on the right track.
