:: Wayne
County sponsors the Urban Loan Fund for minority-owned
businesses anywhere in Wayne County, and any small business
in a distressed community.
:: The
fund targets small, established companies that need financing
to expand, modernize and compete in the economy. The
benefits include financing for fixed assets, low equity
requirements and below-market fixed interest rates. The
source of the loan fund is the EDA through the State
of Michigan, and it is administered by the Metropolitan
Growth and Development Corporation. As of April 2002,
the County loaned $2 million which leveraged additional
investment of $14.4 million.
:: This
loan program is available for any minority-owned business
or any small business in Detroit, Ecorse, Hamtramck,
Highland Park, Inkster, River Rouge or other designated
distressed community. Program loans 30% of projects under
$200,000.
:: Eligible
projects include:
