:: Educational
attainment in 2000 among Wayne County's residents was generally
lower than that of the region as a whole, although the percentage
of high school and college graduates has increased dramatically
since 1990.
:: Twenty percent of the county's residents over the
age of 25 have not graduated from high school, compared to thirty
percent in 1990. Eighteen percent of the county’s residents
have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher, compared to
less than fourteen percent in 1990.
:: Educational
attainment data was only available for Wayne, Oakland, Macomb,
and Washtenaw counties at the time of printing. Each county has
attained markedly higher graduation rates during 1990 and 2000,
however Wayne County had the greatest change, thoroughly influenced
by Detroit. This overall increase in educational attainment is
largely the result in improved economic conditions.
