:: As
described in the previous section, the employment based increased
each year since 1991, peaking in 2000. The most recent, consistent
data available showing the distribution of jobs amongst the various
sectors of the economy, is the County Business Patterns NAICS
Description for 1998 and 1999. These figures clearly illustrated
the prosperity of the era as exhibited by an increase of nearly
15,000 private sectors jobs during this one-year period, exceeding
770,000 jobs in Wayne County in 1999.
:: The
largest sector, manufacturing, did experience a minor loss in
jobs, although it was more than compensated by a growth in several
other sectors, most notably construction, finance and insurance,
and management of companies and enterprises.
