Mental Health Agency accepts applications for grants for community groups to enhance services for consumers and consumer families

The Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency is accepting applications for grants up to $2,000 for activities, services, programs, and other projects supporting persons with mental illness, or serious emotional disturbance. Mini-grants are also available for community projects that help erase stigma as a barrier to care.

The mini-grants are part of the Agency’s ongoing support for consumer programs, advocacy groups, and community organizations that provide outreach, educational and other services for consumers.

Applications for the mental illness mini-grants are due Friday, May 2, 2008. Applications are available at the Agency’s web site at www.waynecounty.com/mhealth or by calling (313) 833-3984.

The Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency serves over 57,000 consumers. The Agency provides services for people with mental illness, developmental disabilities, serious emotional disturbance and substance use disorders. The Agency also provides crisis intervention, suicide prevention and other assistance through a 24-Hour Help Line at 1-800-241-4949 or TDD 866-870-2599.
