AWARD PRESENTATION

Mercury Reduction Plan (MRP)

MRP is a pollution prevention plan specifically designed to eliminate the discharge of mercury to the sanitary sewer system. IPP may require a User to develop, to submit for approval, and to implement a MRP if the User discharges wastewater that does or has potential to exceed the discharge limitation for mercury.

Spill Prevention and Slug Control Plans

According to the SUO, industrial users shall provide protection from accidental discharges of pollutants which may cause interference at the wastewater treatment plant.

Federal regulations stipulate that each significant industrial user shall be evaluated at least once every two years to determine whether a slug control plan is needed.

Spill / Slug Control Plan template was developed to combine the requirements of the above plans into one form. Minimum requirements are listed in Article V, Section 2.04 of the SUO. For a copy of the Wayne County DOE slug / spill control plan form and detailed guidelines, please contact the WC FMD – IPP Section at 734-285-7232.

Please address all IPP concerns to Mr. Sabu Varghese, Lab/IPP Manager, at (734) 285-7232 or e-mail at svarghes@co.wayne.mi.us
